The War Memorial for Acomb stands on a triangle of land in the village called "The Green". The names of two men of the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial - Privates Percy Jarvis and Herbert Goodall.

Private Herbert Goodall, 240369. 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Died at home 25 December 1919. Aged 21.
Buried ACOMB (ST. STEPHEN) CHURCHYARD.
(Additional information : Enlisted 14 August 1914, - aged 16. First served in France 18 April 1915. Reported missing Sept /Oct 1918 (captured?). Disembodied 10 May 1919. Son of James & Charlotte Goodall of 79 Beaconsfield St., Acomb. Died of Tubercular Meningitis.)

Private Percy Jarvis, 39018. 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of William and Ann Jarvis, of 4, Wards Terrace, Acomb, York. Killed 9 October 1917. Aged 20.
Born Great Ayton (Yorks), Enlisted Guisborough, Resided Copmanthorpe (Yorks).
Commemorated on Panel 52 to 54 and 162A, TYNE COT MEMORIAL.
