OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918.
(1) No "Robert William" Hodgson, but a William Hodgson from Ainderby Steeple is listed in the CWGC and SDGW.
Private Bertie Forth, 3893. 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of George and Mary Ellen Forth, of Ainderby Steeple, Northallerton, Yorks.
Killed 14 March 1916. Aged 18.
Buried RAILWAY DUGOUTS BURIAL GROUND.
Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Ainderby Steeple.
Private William Hodgson. 3/7771. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of Fredrick William Hodgson, of Low Cottages, Ainderby Steeple, Northallerton,
Yorks. Killed 22 April 1917. Aged 19.
Born Fencoates (Bedale - Yorks), Enlisted Richmond (Yorks), Resided Moreton-on-Swale
(Near Northallerton).
Commemorated Bay 5, ARRAS MEMORIAL.
Private Cyril Wilfred Horner, 26641. 10th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment. Killed 5 August 1917.
Buried COJEUL BRITISH CEMETERY, ST. MARTIN-SUR-COJEUL.
