The War Memorial for Ashover, Derbyshire, stands in the churchyard
of All Saints' Church,
Ashover. The Memorial includes the names of two men of the Yorkshire Regiment.
Details of these soldiers are below.
Private George Swift. 33726. 2nd Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Swift, of Uppertown, Ashover, Chesterfield.
Killed 3 September 1917. Aged 26.
Born Uppertown (Derbyshire), Enlisted Chesterfield.
Buried DERRY HOUSE CEMETERY No.2.
Private Edmund Revell White. 243475. 5th Battalion
Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Thomas and Sarah White, of Ashover, Chesterfield,
Derbyshire; husband of C. White, of Delph Cottage, Repton, Derby. Served in
the South African campaign. Died 7 January 1918. Aged 41.
Born Ashover (Derby), Enlisted Ashover.
Buried ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY.
