The War Memorial for Aycliffe Village (Co. Durham)

The War Memorial for Aycliffe Village is situated at the East end of St. Andrew's Church, and is next to a gate leading to Church Lane.
At the base of the cross are two plaques, - one (on the main face) commemorates 13 men who lost their lives in the First World War. The other plaque (on the North face) commemorates 9 men who lost their lives in the Second World War.
One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the memorial for Aycliffe Village.
2nd Lieutenant Aylmer Eade. 3rd Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment, attached to 2nd Battalion. Son of the Rev. Charles John Aylmer Eade
and Constance Eade, of Aycliffe Vicarage, Darlington. Killed 9 October 1917.
Aged 25.
Buried CEMENT HOUSE CEMETERY.
