The War Memorial for Baxenden (Lancs) is situated outside the main entrance to the Church of St. John the Baptist, on the East end of the church.

One soldier who served in the Yorkshire Regiment is shown on this memorial.


Private Harry Johnson. 203550. TR/7/10450 Royal Warwickshire Regt, formerly 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of James and Alice Johnson, of 464, Manchester Rd., Baxenden. Died at home 26 October 1918. Aged 29.
Enlisted Accrington, Resided Baxenden.
Buried BAXENDEN (ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST) CHURCHYARD.
Information from Richard Roberts, <richard@nosnailshere.co.uk>, is that "He died in hospital at Norwich of pneumonia."
