Beverley Grammar School was founded in about 700 AD and is the country's oldest state school. The First World War Memorial for the school is located in the Minster Church of St. John & St. Martin, Minster Yard North, Beverley.

The memorial commemorates the names of 29 Old Boys of Beverley Grammar School who fell in the First World War and includes two men from the Yorkshire Regiment.

Lance Corporal Harold Bruce. 241709. Depot, the Yorkshire Regiment. Died at home 19 November 1917.
Born Guisborough (Yorks), Enlisted Beverley.
Buried BEVERLEY (ST. MARY) CHURCH CEMETERY.

Lieutenant Frank Green. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of William and Martha Green, of Keld Gate, Beverley, Yorks. Killed 28 December 1917. Aged 23.
Buried LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY.
