The War Memorial for Bolsover and Hillstown, Derbyshire, is located in Bolsover Market Place. The memorial is a Portland stone cross with bronze sword. The cross is raised on a four-stepped polygonal pedestal and two-stepped base. The inscription and names are on metal plaques attached to the faces of the pedestal.
221 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War. Amongst these names is a soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.
We are very grateful to Richard Clarke and Chris Preston of the Derby and Derbyshire War Memorials Project for permission to use their images of this memorial.
