The description of the Boosbeck War Memorial (below), together with photographs,
dates from late 2007. Subsequently, however, the Institute building has been
sold and the War Memorial moved. Mrs Kathleen Jackson of the Royal British
Legion (<moorviewboosbeck2@btopenworld.com>) provides the following
information;-
"The War Memorial that was on the Miner's Institute has been moved into
the grounds of Lockwood Primary School. The reason for this was because the
Institute (The Church Hall) was up for sale and has been sold but is up for
sale again."
The War Memorial at Boosbeck is a plaque on the wall (by the entrance door) of the old Miners' Institute. The plaque is inscribed;-
THE INSTITUTE CLOCK WAS ERECTED
