The War Memorial for Bournville (Birmingham) is located in the middle of the green at Sycamore Road / Laburnum Road and Willow Road in Bournville. The memorial is a simple cross on a two-stepped octagonal base surmounted by a square plinth. The commemorations are on the sides of the plinth.

35 men who lost their lives in the First World War are commemorated on the memorial. The names commemorated are becoming extremely difficult to read, but a full transcription is available on War Memorials On Line.

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this War Memorial.


Private William Victor MacDonald, 41868. 10th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Formerly 161627 R F A. Son of Mr. W. H. and Mrs. H. MacDonald, of 288, Selly Oak Rd., King's Norton, Birmingham. Died 8 May 1918. Aged 20.
Born Bournville (Worcs), Enlisted Birmingham, Resided Bournville (Birmingham).
