The War Memorial for Branston (Burton-on-Trent) consists of 5 panels, shown above, in All Saints' Church with Christ Church. Unfortunately, the panels are of slate, with the names of the fallen carved on. This makes it extremely difficult to photograph, or even transcribe.

However, Richard Roberts has very kindly forwarded the names of two men of the Yorkshire Regiment whose names appear on this Memorial, - one of them an Old Contemptible of the 2nd Battalion. Details of these men are below.
The name of one of the men, Private Norman, is also commemorated on the Roll of Honour in the Town Hall, Burton-on-Trent.

Private Samuel Austin, 8148. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 22 October 1914.
Born Christchurch (Burton-on-Trent), Enlisted Derby, Resided Normanton (Derby).
Commemorated Panel 33, Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial

Private William Albert Norman. 3/7944. 2nd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of David and Jane Norman, of 143, Uxbridge St., Burton-on-Trent. Killed 15 June 1915. Aged 19.
Born Branston (Burton-on-Trent), Enlisted Sheffield, Resided Burton-on-Trent
Commemorated Panel 12, Le Touret Memorial.
