There is no War Memorial, as such, in Carlton-in-Cleveland. However, in the churchyard of st. Botolph's, Carlton, two soldiers are commemorated on family headstones.
The two soldiers commemorated are;-
Alfred Claude Wrightson (9 February 1917)
and
Frederick Ventress (11 February 1917) - though there is no further information
on this person.
There are 3 Commonwealth War Graves, for the First World War, in the churchyard.
Serjeant Alfred Claude Wrightson, 19572. 7th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Thomas and Eliza Wrightson, of Sexhow, Carlton-in-Cleveland,
Stokesley, Yorks. Killed 9 February 1917. Aged 20.
Born Sexhow (Yorks), Enlisted Stokesley, Resided Sexhow (Northallerton)
Buried GROVE TOWN CEMETERY, MEAULTE.
