Dewsbury Cemetery contains 100 burials from both the First and Second World Wars. However, amongst the graves is a poignant headstone, where a father and a son are buried together.

Private Benjamin Farnhill. 265632. 18th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Formerly 2260 King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Husband of Harriet Farnhill, of 19, Back Webster St., Dewsbury. Died at home 30 September 1917. Aged 41.
Born Dewsbury (Yorks), Enlisted Wakefield (Yorks), Resided Dewsbury.

Corporal Sam Farnhill. 203763. Seaforth Highlanders. Son of Mrs. Harriett Farnhill, of 19, Back Webster St., Dewsbury, and the late Benjamin Farnhill. Died at home 22 October 1919. Aged 21.
