The First World War Memorial for Chelmsford (Essex) is a framed bronze plaque inside the Chelmsford Civic Centre on Duke Street. Outside the Civic Centre is a Cenotaph commemorating the citizens of Chelmsford who fell in both World Wars.

359 names are commemorated for those who lost their lives in the First World War.

A remarkably comprehensive website, Chelmsford War Memorial: The First World War, provides biographical details of those named on this memorial. The biographical details include the family history of the people named, - and even includes photos of houses lived in.

We are very grateful to oldpicruss who has given us permission to use his photos on this website.

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.
