The War Memorial for Cirencester (Glos) is located at the junction of the A34 with the A513 in Weeping Cross.

The Cirencester War Memorial is situated in front of Cirencester Parish Church and is dedicated to the 204 men of Cirencester who lost their lives in the First World War, together with 69 names from the Second World War. A transcript of all the names has been provided by Stuart Flight of the Gloucester Genealogy Forum.

Two soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this memorial.


Private Walter William Massey, 3277. 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Hannah Massey, of The Barracks, Cirencester, Glos, and the late Henry Walter Massey. Killed 17 September 1916. Aged 26.
Born Cirencester (Gloucester), Enlisted Skelton, Resided Cirencester.
Commemorated on Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D, THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.

Private John William Mustoe. 8239. 2nd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 11 October 1915.
Born Cirencester (Gloucester), Enlisted Leeds.
Buried CAMBRIN CHURCHYARD EXTENSION.
