The First World War Memorial for Connah's Quay in St. Mark's
Church is found at the front of the church, on the right, in the nave. The
memorial is a marble panel.
One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this
panel, - his name can be seen top right.
Private Herbert Foulkes. 35034. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment, formerly 15254 Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Died 3 October 1918.
Born Northop (Flint), Enlisted Shotton, Resided Connah's Quay.
Buried GLAGEON COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION.
Richard Roberts has added the information that;-
"According to the Flintshire WW1 Index Cards, Herbert Foulkes lived at
19 Church Street Connah's Quay and was taken prisoner on 27/5/1918 and died
at Taclon (misprint for Trelon) Hospital on 3/10/1918. "
