The War Memorial for Coseley is a Calvary Cross, erected in 1920, which is situated at the east end of Christ Church, Coseley. The memorial commemorates the names of 123 local men who lost their lives in the First World War, including three men who served in the Yorkshire Regiment. One of these men was a chorister of the church who is also commemorated individually inside the church.


Lance Corporal David Bradley. 29528. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 29626 Notts & Derby Regt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Bradley, of 83, Broad St., Wallbrook, Coseley, Bilston, Staffs. Killed 11 July 1917. Aged 25.
Born Sedgley (Staffs), Enlisted Tipton, Resided Coseley (Staffs).
Buried FINS NEW BRITISH CEMETERY, SOREL-LE-GRAND.

Private William Arthur Slater. 96167. 85th Training Reserve Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, formerly 47384 2nd/4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of William and Elizabeth Slater of 36 Gough Street, Coseley. Died at home 13 September 1917. Aged 18.
Born Wolverhampton, Enlisted Tipton, Resided Coseley.
Buried COSELEY (CHRIST CHURCH) OLD CHURCHYARD.

Private Joseph Edward Summers. 34525. 9th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly TR/5/65676 86th T R Battn. Son of William Edward and Edith Mary Summers, of 9, Pemberton Road, Coseley, nr. Bilston, Staffs. Killed 13 September 1918.
Born Moxley (Staffs), Enlisted Tipton, Resided Coseley.
Buried MONTECCHIO PRECALCINO COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION.
