The Cowhill War memorial is immediately outside the entrance porch of the Church of St. John the Evangelist.

One soldier of the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.

Private Richard Dent, 24497. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Dent, of Weaving Shed, Cowgill, Dent, Sedbergh, Yorks. Killed 31 March 1917. Aged 22.
Born Dent (Yorks), Enlisted Leyburn, Resided Bainbridge (Leyburn - Yorks).
Buried WARLINCOURT-HALTE BRITISH CEMETERY, SAULTE.
