The War Memorial for Cramlington stands in the town centre, on the Village Green (near the church).
The memorial is a sculpture of St. George, in armour and in
mourning pose, on a tapering shaft and octagonal plinth.
The names of those commemorated are inscribed on the faces of the plinth.
153 names are commmemorated as having lost their lives in the First World
War, and 57 in the Second World War.
A transcription of these names can be found on the North
East War Memorials Project website.
Two soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this memorial.
We are extremely grateful Steve Elwood for permission to use his photographs of this memorial. His photos may be found on the Flickr website.
