The War Memorial in St Peter's Church, Croft-on-Tees, is a marble plaque bearing the names of 15 men who lost their lives in the First World War and 7 men from the Second World War.

Amongst the names are those of 4 soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment.

Private James Ayre, 60626. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 23 October 1918.
Enlisted Richmond (Yorks), Resided Darlington.
Buried LANDRECIES BRITISH CEMETERY.

Private John Thomas Knubley. 23165. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 19 September 1916.
Born Armuthwaite (Cumberland), Enlisted Darlington, Resided Blackwell Bridge (Nr Darlington).
(SDGW puts date of death at 10 July 1916.)
Commemorated on Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D, THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.

Private Frank Thornton. 2417. 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Robert and Eleanor Thornton of Stapleton, Darlington. Killed 10 July 1916. Aged 20.
Born Cleasby (Yorks), Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Stapleton (Darlington).
Buried KEMMEL CHATEAU MILITARY CEMETERY
(Incorrectly shown on the memorial as "Corporal" Frank Thornton)

Private Henry Wilson. 60520. 9th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 10 October 1918.
Born Dalton-on-Tees, Enlisted Croft-on-Tees, Resided Dalton-on-Tees.
