Crowthorne Church of England Primary School has a First World War Memorial on which the names of 46 past pupils are commemorated as having lost their lives in the war.
The school's headmistress, Ruth Jackson, has kindly allowed this website to use their photograph of the memorial.
Two soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are shown on this memorial. Both were in the 2nd Battalion which first landed in Belgium in October 1914.
Private Frederick Augustus George Harfield. 9223. 2nd Battalion
Yorkshire Regiment. Son of William Henry Charles and Elizabeth Ellen Harfield,

Interestingly, the father of both of these men was William Henry Charles Harfield of the RAMC. However, this soldier's Service Record exists, from which it can be seen that he served 13 years and 300 days as a Private (No 2301) with the 1st Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
