The First World War Memorial in the Church of St. Hilda, Danby Dale, is a metal plaque set in marble and mounted on the North wall of the Church. The plaque is inscribed;-
"TO THE GLORY OF GOD, GIVER OF LIFE IMMORTAL,
AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH
WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918."
"LIVE THOU FOR ENGLAND AND WE FOR ENGLAND DIED."

The final name, Cecil Macmillan Dyer, appears to be a late addition to the memorial and is on a separate nameplate.
Captain John Vivian Nancarrow. 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of George Bennett Nancarrow and Charlotte Alice Nancarrow, of "Ravenscroft,"
Grove Hill, Middlesbrough. Killed 25 April 1915. Aged 30.

Regiment. Son of Mr. R. W. and Mrs. M. J. Robinson, of Primrose Hill, Castleton,
Yorks. Killed 28 March 1918. Aged 20.
