The War Memorial for Deaf Hill (Trimdon Station) is now located inside the Trimdon Station Community Centre, in Station Road East. The memorial, - two carved oak panels, was originally located in the nearby St. Paul's Church.
79 names are on this memorial, 11 of which are for men who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.
Private John Barnes. 11418. 2nd Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment.
Killed 15 June 1915.
Born Rhondda Valley (South Wales), Enlisted Deaf Hill Colliery, Resided Trimdon
Colliery .
Commemorated on Panel 12, LE TOURET MEMORIAL.
Private Martin Connor. 14286. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Killed 3 July 1916. Aged 30.
Born Castle Eden (West Hartlepool), Enlisted Deaf Hill, Resided Trimdon Colliery.
Buried HEILLY STATION CEMETERY.

Killed 22 August 1915.
Born Richmond (Yorks), Enlisted Deafhill Colliery, Resided Staindrop (Near
Darlington).

Private William Gofton. 3/8625. 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Husband of M. Davis (formerly Gofton), of 9, Windsor St., Trimdon Colliery,
Co. Durham. Killed 10 August 1915. Aged 32.
Born Stockton, Enlisted West Hartlepool, Resided Trimdon Colliery.
Commemorated on Panels 55 to 58, HELLES MEMORIAL.
(Shown on the Deaf Hill Memorial as "J W Gofton". The 1911 Census
shows that John William Gofton was living in Trimdon Colliery. His Pension
Ledger card shows him as "William Gofton", with the same family
members as in the 1911 Census.)

Son of Thomas and Frances Hannah Fenwick, of Trimdon Station, Co. Durham.
Killed 2 June 1918. Aged 27.

Buried DEAF HILL (ST. PAUL'S) CHURCHYARD.
(From John Peel's Service Record, he enlisted into the 5th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment on 9 September 1914, and was first in France in September 1915. After
being wounded (April 1917) he was transferred into the 3rd Battalion on return
to England in April 1918.)

Regiment, formerly 14916 the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of William and Mary Jane
Reed, of 7, Railway Row, Trimdon Foundry, Co. Durham; husband of Ethel Tinkley
(formerly Reed), of 3, Cross Row, Trimdon Foundry, Co. Durham. Killed 18 September
1918. Aged 27.
