Private Albert Edward Knibbs. 47476.
460th Protection Coy. Royal Defence Corps, formerly 266312 the Yorkshire Regiment. Died at home 5 November 1918. Born Paddington, Enlisted Chiswick, Resided Brentford. From the Green Howards Gazette database, a Private A Knibbs, 7392, is shown as being wounded in the January 1915 issue. Private "A K Knibbs, 7392", was in the original 2nd Battalion who took part in the First Battle of Ypres in October 1914. The change in Regimental Number to 266312 indicates that he rejoined the Yorkshire Regiment on recovering from his wounds, but in either the 4th or 5th Battalions (the 6-figure regimental number was used after 1 March 1917). He would then have transferred to the Royal Defence Corps for service in Ireland. Photo : John of the Find a Grave website.
