The First World War Memorial in St. Oswald's Churchyard, Durham

The First World War memorial in the Churchyard of St. Oswald's, Durham, is in the form of a Calvary. Bronze plaques commemorating the dead are on three of the four sides of the base of the memorial, with the dedication on the other face. Two of the plaques were stolen in 2009, and have been replaced.
A transcription of the names that are shown on the plaques is presented in the North East War Memorials Project website.
Of the 90 names commemorated on the memorial, six are those of soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.
Lance Corporal Andrew Kerwin. 14439. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regimen.
Son of Jeremiah James and Annie Kerwin; husband of Esther Kerwin, of 33, Lumsden's
Yard, Crossgate, Durham. Native of Durham. Died of wounds 7 October 1916.
Aged 35.
Born Lanchester, Enlisted Durham, Resided Crossgate
(SDGW gives date of death as 17 October 1916)
Buried ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY.
Private William Craggs. 12849.
7th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 1 March 1916.

Private Frederick Ebdy. 18831.
6th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of Mary A. Marley (formerly
Ebdy), of 19, Margaret St., New Brancepeth, Co. Durham. Killed 15 September
1916. Aged 31.

Buried LONSDALE CEMETERY, AUTHILLE.
Private William Burrell Holland, 39129. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Mrs. Frances Gordon Holland, of 93, Claypath, Durham. Killed
14 October 1918. Aged 21.
Born Durham, Enlisted Sunderland, Resided Durham.
Buried WORMS (HOCHHEIM HILL) CEMETERY.
Private Joseph Johnson. 45928. 13th Battalion Durham Light Infantry,
formerly 22851 the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 5 October 1916.
Born Crook, Enlisted Durham.
Buried BECOURT MILITARY CEMETERY, BECORDEL-BECOURT.
(Research by Tony Young <a.a.young@btinternet.com> and Glenys Coote
<glenys.coote@durham.ac.uk> showed that Joseph Johnson married in St.
Oswald's Church in January 1915, and that he and his wife lived nearby in
Durham therefater. His Army Service Record is one of the surviving Service
Records).
Rifleman Fred Lambert. 40618. 1st Battalion the Royal Irish Rifles,
formerly 27254 the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mrs. Elizabeth Lambert, of 5,
Queen's St., Durham. Killed 14 November 1916. Aged 19.
Born Shorncliffe, Enlisted Durham.
Commemorated Pier and Face 15 A and 15 B, THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
(FredLambert was born in Shincliffe, Durham - not Shorncliffe).
Private Lionel Albert Le Count. 13622. 9th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Mr. G. M. and Mrs. J. M. Le Count, of 179, Leathwaite Rd.,
Clapham Common, London. Killed 5 October 1918. Aged 20.
