The War Memorial for Eastwood (Notts)

The Eastwood War Memorial stands on the Nottingham Road in Eastwood, at the end of Plumptre Way.
The original obelisk commemorates the names of 81 men who lost their lives in the First World War, and 28 men from the Second World War. One Officer who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this obelisk.
A further 62 names for the First World War are commemorated on new wall plaques behind the obelisk. Amongst the names is that of a soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.
Private Harry Robinson. 2050. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of William and Sarah Jane Robinson, of 53, Doncaster Rd., Goldthorpe,
Rotherham, Yorks. Killed 29 April 1915. Aged 24.
Born Eastwood (Notts), Enlisted Scarborough, Resided Goldthorpe (Rotherham).
Buried VLAMERTINGHE NEW MILITARY CEMETERY.
2nd Lieutenant Cyril Garnet Wyld. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of Henry and Fanny M. Wyld, of Eastwood, Notts; husband of Emily L. Wyld,
of "Tirril," 30, Wilford Grove, Skegness, Lincs. Mentioned in Despatches.
Killed 5 July 1916. Aged 30.
