The War Memorial for Great Lumley is the lychgate of Christ Church. The memorial plaques are located on either side of the lychgate, - with 51 names commemorated for those who lost their lives in the First World War, and 19 for those in the Second World War. The First World war plaque is on the left of the lychgate, and has become slightly damaged.

A transcription of all the names can be found on the website for Christ Church, Great Lumley. The transcription on this page helpfully provides some additional information on each soldier. There is also a transcription on the North East War Memorials Project website.

2 soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this memorial.

We are very grateful to Norman Cummings (<norman_cummings@hotmail.co.uk>) for photographs of the memorial and the church.
