The War Memorial for Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, is in St. George's Park, with the entrance to the park at the junction of Alexandra Road and Trafalgar Road. The entrance to the park is past two gate posts with sculptures created by artists Nigel Barnett and Ros Newman.

The memorial is in the form of an obelisk on an octagonal base, which bears 23 bronze panels commemorating 1472 men who lost their lives in the First World War. A separate (wall) memorial in the park commemorates 619 service personnel and 162 civilians who lost their lives in the Second World War. (In the photo above, this memorial is seen in the lower right of the photo).

We are most grateful to David Toon for permission to use his photographs.

The names of those who lost their lives in the First World War, with biographical information, are provided on the Roll of Honour website.
