The Greengates (Bradford) War Memorial is situated in Memorial Gardens located at the junction of the A657 and A658 main roads in Greengates. Beside the Memorial Gardens is what appears to be a Victorian school building, but is, in fact, the manufacturing premises of a fashion company QRI Ltd.
The memorial itself is a column surmounted by a winged bronze sculpture representing Victory (or Peace).
The main face of the column carries the dedication, and three faces of the column carry bronze plaques commemorating 80 men of Greengates, Apperley Bridge and District who lost their lives in the First World War.
At the base of the column is the dedication to, and commemoration of, 28 men who lost their lives in the Second World War.

4 soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial.

We are very grateful to 28th61st of the MilitaryImages.net website for use of the photos and data, including transcriptions and biographical information, of this memorial.
