The War Memorial for Harome is a marble cross, located in the
village cemetery.
The base is inscribed on the main face;-
ERECTED BY PARISHIONERS TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR OF 1914 - 1918.

Born Hawnby (Yorks), Enlisted Stokesley.
Private George Cook, 240881. 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son
of Francis Cook, of Harome, York, and the late Elizabeth Cook. Killed 12 December
1917. Aged 23.
Buried TYNE COT CEMETERY.
Enlisted Malton, Resided Harome (Nawton, Yorks).
Rifleman Francis Joseph Cook. 40609. 1st Battalion Royal Irish Rifles,
formerly 28212 Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Frank and Mary Cook, of Harome,
Nawton; husband of Hannah Ellen Cook, of Nunnington, York. Killed 16 August
1917. Aged 31.

Born Helmsley (Yorks), Enlisted Saltburn (Yorks), Resided Malton (Yorks).
Private Robert Nixon. 241138. 13th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of George and Sarah Nixon, of Harome, Nawton, Yorks; husband of Alice
Maud Mary Mellanley (formerly Nixon), of 79, St. Bernard Rd., Stockton-on-Tees.
Killed 22 March 1918. Aged 25.
Commemorated Bay 5, Arras Memorial.
Born Helmsley, Enlisted Helmsley, Resided Nawton (S O).
Corporal John Smith. 10063. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed
5 November 1916.
Buried LONDON CEMETERY AND EXTENSION, LONGUEVAL.
Born Harome (Helmsley, Yorks), Enlisted Scarborough, Resided Bishopthorpe
(York).
