Richard Roberts (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>) has forwarded photos and details of the Hayfield War Memorial, which, in turn, have been provided by Chris Preston for the Derby War Memorials website.
Three men who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this memorial. They are;-
Private Elijah Garlick. 29843. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment,
formerly 32523 Notts & Derby Regt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Garlick,
of 37, Lower Noon Sun, Thornsett, Birch Vale, Stockport. Killed 23 November
1917. Aged 29.
Born Glossop (Derby), Enlisted Buxton, Resided Hayfield (Near Stockport).
Commemorated on Panel 5, CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, LOUVERVAL.
Private Fred Hodgson, 29677. 6th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment,
formerly 31018 Notts & Derby Regt. Son of George Hodgson, of Hayfield
Rd., Birch Vale, Stockport. Killed 27 September 1917. Aged 24.
Born Eyam (Derby), Enlisted Buxton, Resided Stockport.
Buried POELCAPELLE BRITISH CEMETERY.
Private Jabez Henry Bond Redfern. 29842. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment, formerly 29842 Notts & Derby Regt. Killed 22 August 1916.
Born Hayfield (Derby), Enlisted Buxton, Resided Hayfield.
Buried MAROC BRITISH CEMETERY, GRENAY.
