the Heninel Communal Cemetery Extension. Christopher has kindly supplied photos
of the cemetery and the graves of the men of the Yorkshire Regiment who are
amongst those who are buried there. Below are Christopher's photos, and information
on the men of the Yorkshire Regiment buried there are shown below them. One
of the graves is Christopher's great-uncle, Private Frank Maltby.
The cemetery extension was begun by the 50th Division Burial Officer in April
1917 and was used by fighting units until the following November. Heninel
Communal Cemetery Extension contains 140 burials of the First World War, seven
of them unidentified.
There are 28 identified graves of men of the Yorkshire Regiment in this cemetery.
