The War Memorial for Hetton-le-Hole in the grounds of the Hetton and District
Working Men's Club and Institute

Further photos of this memorial, including the four faces which include the names of those men who fell in both the First and Second World Wars, are shown below. The four commemorative faces are shown as small images, which when selected provide a larger image which can be used for transcription.
The memorial has the following dedication;-
"Erected by the members of the Hetton and District Working Men's Club
in memory of their fellow members who died for their country in the Great
War 1914 - 1918."
This dedication makes it clear that the memorial does NOT commemorate
all men from Hetton, but only those who were members of the Hetton and District
Working Men's Club. This will explain why, although 18 men who served
with the Yorkshire Regiment are listed, a further 29 men of the Yorkshire
Regiment (at least) who were born / resided in Hetton-le-Hole are NOT listed
on the memorial.
Unfortunately, there is no town memorial for Hetton-le-Hole. There may have been a memorial in the nearby parish church, but this building is now derelict after being destroyed by fire.
