The War Memorial for Hexthorpe, Doncaster

The Hexthorpe War Memorial stands in front of St Jude's Church.
The memorial is am stone cross surmounting a stepped plinth. Marble tablets are inset into the plinth with incised gilt lettering.
91 soldiers are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War and 45 in the Second World War.
2 soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial.
Private Thomas Andrews. 235672. 13th Battalion the
Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 2405 Yorks Dragoons. Son of Abijah James and
Emily Annie Andrews, of Doncaster; husband of Selina Andrews, of 61, Mangham
Quarry, Parkgate, nr. Rotherham, Yorks. Killed 23 March 1918. Aged 26
Born Balby (Doncaster), Enlisted Doncaster, Resided Hexthorpe.
Buried BAC-DU-SUD BRITISH CEMETERY, BAILLEULVAL.
Private Fred Colpus. 235578. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment, formerly 3892 Yorkshire Dragoons. Died 23 November 1917.
Enlisted Doncaster, Resided Hexthorpe.
