The War Memorial for Hinckley was built in the Garden of Remembrance on the site of the old castle in the centre of the Town. It comprises a stone wall with rows of bronze panels recording the names of the fallen and is overseen by a statue of the Angel of Mercy. This is positioned so that on the 11th hour of the 11th month the shadow of the Angel's outstretched arms falls across the listed names.
386 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 153 in the Second World War. Additionally, 13 civilians are commemorated. A list of all the names on the memorial is provded on the Imperial War Museum's "Search UK Memorials" website.
