Richard Roberts (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>) comments;-
"The names of 8 men are commemorated who fell in WW2 and 41 from WW1 including a W Bullock. I am quite sure that this is 2nd Lieut William Bullock who served with the Yorkshire Regiment. In the 1911 census there is a William Bullock living in Hurley, actually born in Berkshire around 1892 (the birth year fits). He is described as a stepson and is working in the local colliery. This is the only discordant note with respect to him being an officer. But then there are lots of examples of such men being commissioned from the ranks and Bob Coulson has nothing to say about his early service career only picking up his record in 1918. His widow is said by the CWGC to have lived at Glascote which is relatively close to Hurley. It seems that she didn't bother to apply for his war medals. I have done a thorough search of other W Bullocks who died and I cannot find a better match."
