The War Memorial for the parish of Husthwaite has 12 names inscribed on it. Curiously, though, there is a Roll of Honour inside the Church of St. Nicholas, Husthwaite, which contains 21 names of "those connected with this parish who have gone forth to join the Colours" and who fell during the Great War.
A photograph showing the Roll of Honour suitable for transcription is provided below.
The names of those inscribed on the Memorial are;-

J C Hebblethwaite, R F A A Kitchen, 19th Battalion DLI C F Lickiss, Duke of Wellington's Regt. W Roberts, 19th Battalion DLI C Stockdale, Royal Marines Light Infantry J G Turner, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards |
The names on the Roll of Honour which have not been inscribed on the Memorial are;-

Also inside St. Nicholas' Church, Husthwaite, is a Battlefield Cross. This
cross was the original grave marker of Sapper William Easton of the Royal
Engineers, who was killed on 11 May 1918 aged 27. Sapper Easton is buried
in Les Baroques Military Cemetery in France. A photograph shows Sapper Williams'
Battlefield Cross inside St. Nicholas' Church, beside the Roll of Honour.
(Photographed in July 2006).
John Ovenston (<jcovenston@btinternet.com>) has provided information
on Sapper Williams and his family, and this may be selected from the link
below. We are very grateful to John Ovenston for this information.
