The War Memorial cross for Ingleby Arncliffe is situated on a small green at the Southern end of the village, shown on the map as Ingleby Cross. Further photos of the memorial, with details of the dedication and the names of those commemorated on it, are shown below.

Two soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are shown on the Memorial. One of the them, though, died in 1924, - well after the official end of the First World War. However, a search of Birth / Death / Marriage / Census records shows that both men came from families who have a strong connection with Ingleby Arncliffe (and nearby villages), and there are almost certainly surviving relatives of these men in the area. Because of this, somewhat fuller details of each man are shown below.

In the 1911 Census William H Stockdale is shown as working as a farm labourer, aged 16, with his grandfather at a farm in Scarborough. The 5th Battalion recruited around Scarborough, and it is possible that he joined them first. The low regimental number indicates joining pre-1914.
In the Green Howards Gazette database he is shown as "P O W", in the March 1919 issue.
Married Gladys Hunt in Q4 1919. One daughter, Rita, born Q2 1920.
William Stockdale died on his 29th BIrthday.)
