The War Memorial is in the form of a cross, around the base of which is inscribed on fours sides;-
"IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 A D"

The names of those recorded on the plaque attached to the base (men of the Yorkshire Regiment in bold) are;

Lance Corporal Thomas Allenby, 241168. 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Joseph and Mary Ann Allenby, of Kirby Mills, Kirkby Moorside, Yorks. Killed 1 October 1918. Aged 23.
Buried GRAND-SERAUCOURT BRITISH CEMETERY.
Enlisted Kirkbymoorside.

Private William Robert Charter, 26381. 13th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mary E. Charter, of West End, Kirkby Moorside, Yorks, and the late John Charter. Killed 29 April 1918. Aged 27.
Buried RUMAUCOURT COMMUNAL CEMETERY.
Born Stockton-on-Tees, Enlisted Malton, Resided Gilling East.

2nd Lieutenant Herbert Clidero. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment, attached to 8th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own). Killed 1 September 1918.
Buried VAULX HILL CEMETERY.

Private Percival Barker Garner, 1821. 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Albert Edward and Betsy Garner, of Market St., Kirbymoorside, Yorks. Killed 1 May 1916. Aged 26.
Buried BOULOGNE EASTERN CEMETERY.
Born Nawton (Kirkbymoorside), Enlisted Kirkbymoorside (Yorks).

CSM Ernest Cecil Norton, 240037. 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 1 January 1918.
Buried TYNE COT CEMETERY.
Born Kirbymoorside, Enlisted Kirbymoorside.

Lance Corporal Frederick William Sample, 16340. 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 14 September 1916.
Commemorated Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D, Thiepval Memorial.
Born Kirkbymoorside (Yorks), Enlisted Malton, Resided Kirkbymoorside.

Private Harry Wilson, 28082. 14th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of John Wilson, of Gutter Bridge Works, Kirkby Moorside. Died at home 26 November 1916. Aged 22.
Born Kirkbymoorside (Yorks), Enlisted Kirkbymoorside.
Buried KIRKBY MOORSIDE (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD.

(Private Wilson's Service Record exists and it shows that
1. He enlisted in the Yorkshire Regiment on 9 February 1916. He was, at the time, a Head Foreman on a farm and was aged 21 years & 4 months.
2. He was attested, in Richmond, on 26 May 1916, and joined the 14th Battalion in camp at Gosforth on that date.
3. The 14th Battalion, into which he enlisted, was merged into the 81st Training Reserve Battalion on 1 September 1916.
4. He died of Cerebro Spinal Meningitis on 26 November 1916. He had been in the Northern General Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, with this since 30 June 1916.)

Inside All Saints' Church, Kirkbymoorside, the rood screen is dedicated to the men who fell in the First World War. On the screen is carved;-

"TO THE HONOUR AND GLORY OF GOD AND IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FOUGHT AND DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918".
