Landrecies was the scene of rear-guard fighting on 25 August 1914, after the Battle of Mons, and from that date it remained in German hands until it was captured by the 25th Division on 4 November 1918. Landrecies British Cemetery was made by the 25th Division in November 1918 and all burials date from the period October 1918 to January 1919.

Landrecies British Cemetery contains 165 Commonwealth burials of the First World War, 14 of which are unidentified.

Amongst the graves are those of 4 soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment, as well as that of a Green Howard from the Second World War.

We are extremely grateful to Chris Cosgrove (<trainscpc@aol.com>) who has generously provided the photographs on this page.
