The Lazenby War Memorial

The War Memorial for parishioners of Wilton is located in the village of Lazenby, at the junction of the High Street with Chestnut Close (previously Lackenby Road). The memorial is an obelisk with the names of those who fell in the First World War on the main face, and those who fell in the Second World war on another face (on the left).
The main face is inscribed;-

Yorks. Killed 25 November 1915. Aged 31.
Born Wilton (Middlesbrough), Enlisted Eston (Yorks).
Buried GUARDS CEMETERY, WINDY CORNER, CUINCHY.
Corporal William Harrison. 7103. 7th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of William and Frances Harrison, of 12, North Rd., Lazenby,
Eston, Yorks. Killed 5 November 1916. Aged 27.
Born Lazenby (Eston - Yorks), Enlisted Middlesbrough, Resided Lazenby.
Buried GUARDS' CEMETERY, LESBOEUFS.
Private Charles Haddon Lyon. 13135. 8th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of G. H. Lyon, of 16, South Lackenby, Eston, Yorks. Died 12
July 1916. Aged 24.
Born Wilton (Redcar, Yorks), Enlisted Middlesbrough, Resided Eston.
Buried HEILLY STATION CEMETERY, MERICOURT-L'ABBE.
Private Walter Pryce. 12428. 6th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Killed 2 May 1917.
Born Lazenby (Middlesbrough), Enlisted Richmond (Yorks), Resided Lazenby.
