Richard Roberts (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>) has forwarded photos of the War Memorial for Leek in Staffordshire.
This War Memorial (known locally by Leekensians as "The Monument" or "Sir Arthur's Wristwatch") was built by Sir Arthur Nicholson to commemorate the death of his son Basil Lee and the fallen from the First World War. It was unveiled in 1925 four years before Sir Arthur's death in 1929. It now stands tribute to the fallen of Leek and the surrounding area from both World Wars.
A comprehensive website, http://www.nicholsonmemorial.org.uk, describes the memorial and provides stories and photos of some of the fallen who are commemorated on the memorial.
One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.
