Richard Roberts (<richard.nsw@googlemail.com>) has forwarded photos of the War Memorial for Lenton (Nottingham), and provides the following information;-
The Lenton Memorial is situated at the corner of Church Street and Sherwin Road in Lenton, which is a District in Nottingham. There are three Yorkshire Regiment men commemorated on the Memorial.
The Memorial has a particular significance in that it commemorates Capt. Albert Ball VC, the WW1 flying ace, who was born in Lenton.
Lance Serjeant George Cope. 64626. 6th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment.Son
of Thomas and Mary Cope; husband of Sarah Ann Cope, of 23 Newgate St., Lenton,
Nottingham. Killed 6 April 1919. Aged 40.
Born Nottingham, Enlisted Nottingham.
Buried ARCHANGEL ALLIED CEMETERY
Private Henry Dunn. 29489. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment,
formerly 28862 Notts & Derby Regt. Killed 1 July 1916.
Born Nottingham, Enlisted Nottingham.
Buried LOOS BRITISH CEMETERY.
Private Ewart Gladstone Lee. 29496. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment, formerly 28919 Notts & Derby Regt. Son of James and Lydia Lee,
of 20. Montpelier Rd., Dunkirk, Nottingham. Native of Lenton, Nottingham.
Killed 8 January 1917. Aged 31.
Born Nottingham, Enlisted Nottingham.
Buried SAILLY-SAILLISEL BRITISH CEMETERY.
