The Hall of Remembrance in Liverpool's Town Hall was opened by the Duke of Windsor, then Prince of Wales, in 1921 and contains the City's Roll of Honour.

The Roll of Honour carries the names of over 13,000 military men from Liverpool who died during the First World War. This list of war dead began to be compiled during the war when names of the fallen were posted in a window overlooking Exchange Flags and relatives queued to add names. Because of this, the list is far from complete, but a number of names have been added since 1921, on additional panels.

The Roll of Honour is presented in a number of framed panels, with the names of those who lost their lives presented alphabetically and with the regiment / ship that they served in.
The Roll of Honour is fully searchable on the Hall of Remembrance website. (Hint : searching for soldiers of the Yorkshire Regiment use the search term "YORKSHIRE REGT.")

15 soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are named on this Roll of Honour.

Richard Humphreys kindly visited the Town Hall and photographed some of the Yorkshire Regiment names on the Roll of Honour. He was assisted by Andy Barker of the Town Hall Management Team. Photographing the individual names on the Roll of Honour was a difficult process due to names appearing at different heights on the Roll of Honour, and because of the glass protection in front of the names. A composite of the photographed names is shown below.
