The Memorial Cross for Marske (Swaledale) stands immediately beside the doorway to St. Edmund's Church. The cross is inscribed, simply;-

Serjeant Samuel Atkinson, 2395. 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of Samuel and Mary Atkinson, of Londesborough Park, nr. Market Weighton,
Yorks. Died 1 March 1917. Aged 28.
Enlisted Marske, Resided Market Weighton.
Buried MONT HUON MILITARY CEMETERY, LE TREPORT.
Private Jacob Hodgson, 2861. 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son
of Jacob Hodgson, of Skelton Marske, Yorks, and the late Agnes Hodgson. Died
14 February 1916. Aged 22.
Born Marske (Richmond, Yorks), Enlisted Richmond.
Commemorated Panel 33, YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL.
Private George Edward Usher, 6547. 4th Battalion York and Lancaster
Regiment, formerly of the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Robert and Margaret Usher,
of Keeper's Lodge, Todmorstones, Drake Hill, Bingley, Yorks. Killed 7 September
1916. Aged 18.
Born Downholme, Resided Hurst.
