The Meltham First World War Memorial is a stone tablet on the
South exterior wall of St. Bartholomew's Church, Meltham. The memorial is
clearly visible from Greens End Road.
This memorial commemorates 98 men who lost their lives in the First World
War, amongst whomwere 2 soldiers of the Yorkshire Regiment.
Beneath this memorial is a smaller stone tablet commemorating 20 men who lost
their lives in the Second World War.

Private Fred Ellis. 6146. 1st Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Mary Ellis, of 32, Huddersfield Rd., Meltham, Yorks., and
the late Samuel Ellis. Killed 1 August 1915. Aged 37.
Born Meltham (Huddersfield), Enlisted Leeds, Resided Meltham
Buried RAWALPINDI WAR CEMETERY.
Commemorated on Face 1, DELHI MEMORIAL (INDIA GATE)
Private Frederick Saunders. 12825. 9th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Killed 7 June 1917.
Born Liverpool, Enlisted Huddersfield, Resided Melton Mills.
Commemorated on Panel 33, YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL.
