The War Memorial for Motherwell is situated in the Duchess of
Hamilton Park. The park is situated ten minutes walk from Motherwell town
centre. It is directly across Airbles road from Airbles train station. The
main entrances to the park are off Avon street and Crawford street.
Amongst the very many names from both World Wars commemorated on the four
faces of the memorial are two soldiers of the Yorkshire Regiment. However,
the two soldiers commemorated are listed under regiments other than the Yorkshire
Regiment for reasons mentioned in the notes against each soldier.
We are extremely grateful to David McNay of the Scottish War Memorials Project for permission to use the photographs of this memorial.
