There is a memorial plaque inside the Church of St. Mary's, Muker, with the following names on it;-

Richard Alderson
Thomas Clarkson
William Waller Hutchinson
Robert Rukin

Thomas Clarkson, of the DLI, is buried in a Commonwealth War Grave in the cemetery of the Church.
One of the Church wardens said that the names on the memorial plaque were also commemorated on a War memorial at Keld, further up the valley.


Private Richard Alderson, 28136. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of William and Margaret Alderson, of Angram Muker, Swaledale, Richmond, Yorks. Killed on 20 September 1917. Aged 21.
Born Skeegh (Yorks), Enlisted Satron (Yorks), Resided Angram (Yorks) .
Commemorated Panel 33, Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial,

Private Thomas Clarkson. 325648. 1st/9th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, formerly 30597 the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of John and Ann Clarkson, of Richmond. Died at home 30 April 1917. Aged 27.
Enlisted Richmond (Yorks).
Buried MUKER (ST. MARY) CHURCHYARD.

Private William Waller Hutchinson was of the 1st Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment.

Private Robert Rukin, 38180. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed on 29 September 1918.
