The War Memorial for New Mills, Derbyshire, is situated in the churchyard of St. George's Church, New Mills. The memorial can be seen from Church Road.

Three soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial.


Private Elijah Garlick. 29843. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 32523 Notts & Derby Regt. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Garlick, of 37, Lower Noon Sun, Thornsett, Birch Vale, Stockport. Killed 23 November 1917. Aged 29.
Born Glossop (Derby), Enlisted Buxton, Resided Hayfield (Near Stockport).
Commemorated on Panel 5, CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, LOUVERVAL.

Private James Hall, 78972. 1st/7th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, formerly 89512 the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 27 March 1918.
Born Birch Vale (Derby), Enlisted Birch Vale.
Commemorated Panel 68 to 72, POZIERES MEMORIAL.

Private Ernest George Pike. 40130. 1st Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 5/78847 89th T R Battn. Son of Joseph and Margaretta Pike, of 204, Albion Rd., Newtown, New Mills, Stockport. Died 29 October 1918. Aged 24.
Born Gorton (Lancs), Enlisted Buxton, Resided Stockport.
Buried Peshawar (Right) B.C. 21.
Commemorated on Face 1, DELHI MEMORIAL (INDIA GATE).
