The Memorial Stone Tablet in St. Mary's Church, Norton

The memorial Plaque in St. Mary's Church, Norton, is a stone tablet in which
are carved the names of those who fell in the First World War. The Plaque
is located behind the font, under the West window. There are three columns
of names. Carved into the plaque under each column of names is another name,
- clearly "late additions".
The names on the memorial plaque are;-

Private Wilfred Milburn Booth, 60488, of the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Mrs. Dorothy Davison, of 24, Metcalfe St., Norton. Died on
15 September 1919. Aged 22.
(CWGC record puts age at death as 24. However, Wilfred Milburn Booth's birth
was registered in Stockton in Q1 1897, putting his age at death as 22.)
Buried in NORTON (ST. MARY) CHURCHYARD, TEESIDE,
Durham.
(2nd Battalion was on service in Southern Ireland at the time. Possibly Wilfred
Booth died in Ireland and his body was brought home for burial).
Private Norman Archibald Burnett. 3/7776. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Samuel B. and Carrie C. Burnett, of Norton-on-Tees, Co. Durham.
Died of Wounds 28 November 1918. Aged 21.
Buried MONT HUON MILITARY CEMETERY, LE TREPORT.
Born West Hartlepool, Enlisted Middlesbrough, Resided Norton (Stockton).
Private Horace Dodsworth Robinson Kirby. 60367. 9th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Thomas and Rose Kirby, of 13, Lightfoot Grove, Stockton-on-Tees.
Killed 13 October 1918. Aged 21.
Buried ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION, ROUEN.
Born Norton (Durham), Enlisted Darlington, Resided Redcar.
Private Mark Kirby. 26689. 10th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son
of William and Eleanor Kirby, of 2, William Terrace, Norton, Stockton-on-Tees.
Killed 4 September 1917. Aged 30.

of 1, The Furnaces, Norton, Stockton-on-Tees. Killed 26 October 1917. Aged
32.
