The War Memorial for Oldbury-on-Severn is a brass plaque mounted on the wall in St. Arilda's Church. 28th61st has posted an image of the memorial on MilitaryImages.net, together with a listing of the names and their regiments as found on the memorial. 17 soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War are commemorated on this memorial.

One soldier of the Yorkshire Regiment is amongst those commemorated.


Private William James Perkins. 42422. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 183748 R F A. Killed 27 July 1917. Aged 22.
Born Rockhampton, Enlisted Bristol.
Buried FINS NEW BRITISH CEMETERY, SOREL-LE-GRAND.

According to the 1911 Census, he was the son of William James & Louisa Perkins and was born at Shipperdine, Gloucs., in 1895.)
